Running in your browser with Pyodide

What you are looking at

This is the unmodified Django project from this repository. Instead of a server, Pyodide runs CPython compiled to WebAssembly in this tab; each click or form goes to Django's test client and the HTML it returns is shown in the frame below. The SQLite database is stored in your browser (IndexedDB), so nothing leaves your computer. You are signed in automatically as a demo user, because the original project signs users in through the Django admin.

First load downloads about 15 MB (Python and Django) and is cached afterwards.

/tasks/

  1. Loading Python (Pyodide)
  2. Installing Django 5.2
  3. Copying the project into the virtual file system
  4. Running database migrations
  5. Starting the app
